Charles Knecht, 71, died Monday, June 18, at Allied Services Skilled Nursing in Scranton. He was the loving husband of Kathleen (Gower ) Knecht. They would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on June 30th.
Born in Long Pond, he was the son of the late Arthur and Helen ( Bellis) Knecht.
Charles was an avid outdoorsman. Some of his passions in life were hunting and fishing. He learned to love the outdoors and animals after growing up on a farm. Charles worked as a machine operator for the Weiler Brush Company for 24 years.
In addition to his wife, Kathleen, he his survived by a daughter: Renay A. Peechatka and her husband Kyle of Henryville; two sons: Charles L. Knecht Jr and his wife Jennifer of Stroudsburg, Jeffrey R. Knecht Sr. and his significant other Bonnie Gunderman of Tobyhanna; a brother: Arthur Knecht and his wife Joan of Pocono Lake; a sister: Jean Fisher and her husband Raymond of Pocono lake; seven grandchildren: Charles Knecht III, Jeffrey Knecht Jr., Stephanie Knecht, Ashley Peechatka, Darrin Peechatka, Daniel Peechatka, Rachel Peechatka and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will take place from 2-4 and from 7-8:30pm on Thursday, June 21 at the Bolock Funeral Home and Crematory 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Route 940 Cresco, PA 18326. Pastor Larry Lutz will conduct a funeral service on Friday, June 22 at 10:30am at the Bolock Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Long Pond Cemetery in Long Pond, PA.
