Charles A. Harrison

September 29, 1939 - January 22, 2021

Charles "Charlie" A. Harrison, 81, of Canadensis, unexpectedly died on Friday, January 22, 2021 in Stroudsburg. Born on September 29, 1939 in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Russell L. and Hazel A. (Peet) Harrison. Charlie resided in Monroe County his entire life. Coming from a family of avid baseball players, he played for the Barrett Lions while in high school. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Army in Korea. During his working career, Charlie operated Fernwood horse-riding stables in Bushkill. Working extensively in the equestrian field throughout the Pocono Region. He also worked for Edwards Quarry in Sterling as a heavy equipment operator and a snow groomer for Alpine Ski Mountain. His love for the outdoors included many fishing and hunting trips, especially hunting for whitetails. NASCAR became his substitute for car racing he did as a young adult. He was a 20-year member of The American Legion Evans-Blitz Post 922 in Canadensis and of the Pocono Masonic Lodge 780 of Paradise Valley. In his retirement, Charlie loved to cook, eat, workout, and feed the wild life out his front door. He is survived by his daughters: Michelle Harrison of Canadensis and her companion, Donald Kintner of Minisink Hills; Tami Stone and her husband, Michael of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren: Brianna and Jordyn Carswell; loving friends: Gaile Martin; Andrew Gerber; Karen Schwartz; Gary Olsen; Patty Laszczyk; Jeanne Dearringer, Tim Reinhart; and many amazing cousins. In 2013 his son, Craig L. Harrison preceded him in death. There will be no services at this time. Private cremation has been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home Crematory. In lieu of flowers, at Charlie's request, "Please do an unexpected act of kindness in my name."
