William Duncan Fields Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William Duncan Fields, 81 of Pocono Pines, passed away surrounded by family on February 2, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono in East Stroudsburg. He was the loving husband of Virginia (Harsch) Fields, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage this March. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William John and Margaret (Young) Fields. He attended Upper Darby High School. A proud Veteran, William served four years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Okinawa and Pakistan. His many jobs included owning a gas station to overseeing a fleet of 3,400 vehicles for Bell Telephone. After moving to the Poconos in 1984, he worked for Pocono Lake Realty as a salesperson and as a Deputy Sheriff for Monroe County for 3 years and Chief Deputy for 7, retiring in 2002. William was a member of the Wilson Fischer Post 413 of the American Legion in Pocono Lake where he was a former commander and held various offices throughout the years. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in East Stroudsburg, the Pennsylvania Sherrifs Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. William was an incredible family hero, which whom in addition to his loving wife and best friend, he is survived by his daughter, Cheryl A. Sheranko; son, William E. Fields; grandchildren: Kyleigh A. Sheranko; and Zachary D. Sheranko and his wife, Michala (Fish); great-grandchildren: Nola and Levi Sheranko and brother-in law, Anthony Chialastri, and sister-in law, Rita Fields; as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth W. Fields; and sister, Carol Ann Chialastri. There will be no services or visitation, arrangements have been entrusted to Bolock Funeral Home, Cresco.
